You may want to put on your "creative cap" as it is often a real
challenge to get staff to follow up if they "haven't been written on
survey". Much as we all dislike deficiencies on survey, the survey team
does us no favors sometimes by overlooking things that should have been
written when staff have been resistive to working with the team to be the
best.

I
agree with the not looking hard enough. Our DON has been out on
extended sick and there has only been me to complain about poor
documentation leading to questionable nursing. Now that she is back I
said we needed to have a heart to heart to work on a plan for basic staff
retraining.
We just had our survey & had 5 surveyors for 2
facilities. They were out of Bakersfield & were very
tight-lipped. We did not know what they found until the exit
conference. All in all a good survey. Perfect at one facility
& minor dings at the other. The Administrator said they didn't
look hard enough!
I have had unbelievably good
surveys in Los Angeles County this year. Everyone thinks it is
because of the budget cuts. Hope it does not bring CMS down on
us Delores
Just finished Survey and passed very well.
But with budget cutbacks in California we had only one surveyor, who
said they had run out of the signs that you put on the doors and also
had no tape recorder for the exit interview. She was very
friendly and gave us opportunities to correct things she did
find.
