I would wait until the resident returns, then assess for significant change.  Has there been weight loss, decline in feeding ability, etc?   You have 14 days from readmission to complete either the quarterly or the sig change. It will show up as a warning message for late assessment. As long as you have documented your decision making process, you are in compliance.

Subject: quarterly assessment

Hi,
I need some input from the group.
We have a patient that was scheduled to have a quarterly assessment with ARD 11/3/03.The patient was admitted to the hospital for GT insertion (had a NGT prior)on 11/3/03 and is anticipated to return within 48 hrs.Should the quarterly assessment be completed or rescheduled when the patient returns?

Thanks
