--- Begin Message ---My facility hasn't utilized medicare since 1999. Currently we have a 300 bed facility however the administrator wants to open up a 30-50 bed medicare unit. We currently have 3 full time MDS coordinators. We do infection control, wound care, QA and our mds assessments for OBRA. I figured out our hours per assessment and other work assigned through FTE / assessment hours and it shows we should have 4.30 FTE's.So I need some kind of estimated amount of assessments that will be done on a 30-50 bed medicare unit to prove to the administrator/CEO how many more coordinators will be needed to run this new medicare unit. Please HELP!All responses will be appreciated!Jen in KC.
