It is my understanding that if someone has the 3-night qualifing stay then they can be 
brought in on medicare through the 5 day completion in order to assess the resident 
and see if they meet the rest of the medicare skilled service criteria.  Also if you 
have a strong OT department, then they can pick up in order to design a functional 
maintence program for the resident so there will be less chance of ADL decline as some 
CNA's just do everything for the resident instead of making the resident do for 
themselves.  Wish my OT at current facility could understand this concept.
