This can be confusing if you have not participated in a "listserve" before. The way it works is that the listserve is like an internet bulletin board. Everyone who belongs to the list can post messages and /or reply to them. All the questions and answers are posted "on the board" for everyone to see. This results in your getting lots of mail!
Here are some tips that have helped me.
1) When I post a message, I try to put a clear, helpful title or phrase in the subject line. This helps others to know what your question is and it helps other readers to decide whether they can help the questioner or whether they are interested in the answers.
2) To read a response to your question, you need to look for a message that has as the subject "re: the subject line from your original question." Thus for answers to the question you posted on the listserve, scroll down until you see a message with the subject, "re:questions and answers"
3) For help in reading the messages, I sort my messages by subject (I use Yahoo and it lets me do this.) That way I get the original question grouped with all of the responses. Then I can read the question and decide if it is of interest to me. If not, I delete the message and all of the responses. This saves time: I do not have time to read all of the mail!
4) Don't be afraid to delete messages that are not of interest, based on the subject line alone! There are hundreds of messages, so you can't read them all.
5) You do not have to read all of the answers! I always read the ones from Rena Shepard and from Gary Jorgenson. Beyone that, if I read a couple of answers and feel satisfied with them, I will often delete all of the rest of them.
6) If I have been gone for a couple of days and the volume of mail is too much, I may have to delete it all! Most questions and answers will pop up again later!
Good luck! The group is very helpful, but the volume of mail can be over-whelming! Don't be afraid to "manage your mail."

Some questions very good ones but cannot locate or ever see the responses. How exactly does this work? Thanks
