Title: Air beds

I agree with Brenda.  Our facility bought mattresses a few years back that administration thought were pressure relieving but in the final analysis (post survey and of course with a pending citation) it was determined they were only pressure reducing.  Fortunately I had scored the MDS ‘s properly or it would have been worse.

I would ask for the literature on the mattresses and see what the company states that they are, “pressure reducing,” “pressure relieving,” or none of these.

We have put new pressure relieving mattresses on all of our beds recently ( accumax matresses).  My administrater feels this qualifies all MDSs to include M5b.  What do you all think?  I feel it is a little bit of a stretch?

Thanks in advance,
Monica
