Has Theresa responded to this? A number of my clients' billers have told me that the prior BCC of CA told them to bill benefits exhausted after tube feeding as NO LONGER SKILLED CARE. This type of UB coding will generate a new benefit period.
I am also of the opinion that a new benefit period will never be regenerated if a resident continues to receive TOTAL ENTERAL NUTRITION. However, my clients have benefit periods regenerated repeatedly depending on how the UB is coded when benefits are exhausted. i would love to hear Theresa's comment on this issue
Delores
If they stay in a facility at a skilled level of care then they DO NOT regain their 100 days. If they are tube fed 100% and do not have any oral intake then they will not get their days back. Hope this answers your question.
