Only if the care being provided skills into an appropriate RUGS category
on the MDS. Terminal in and of itself will not. I wondered about this
too so I have tried to play with an MDS marking terminal and it would
not RUG out until I Added something skilled like wound care/O2/MD visits
with orders/dehydration etc. I think the logic must be that the
terminal status must require ongoing level of "skilled care" to make it
qualify.

Subject: terminal condition

I have a resident that was admitted using her medicare A benefits.
During her stay here came off of skilled coverage. During this time she
was diagnosed with a terminal condition. Would this continue to skill
her for her med a coverage.

Thanks,

Billie Stewart, RNAC
