On a pacemaker care plan, you need to address the risk of malfunction and
potential cardiac output alteration. Goals will be to maintain heart rate
within acceptable range (per MD recommendations), for res to remain free
from s/sx of pacemaker malfunction or complications related to pacemaker,
cardiovascular disease, altered cardiac output. If it is a new pacemaker,
then you will also be monitoring the surgical site for infection.

Approaches will include monitoring vital signs, administering meds as
ordered, following up with cardiologist as ordered, scheduling pacemaker
checks as ordered, documenting and following up results; labs/diagnostic
work as ordered and follow up results. I always include the pacemaker
information here, including the manufacturer, model#, serial # date
implanted, name of surgeon, and the settings (if available)
