For liability reasons, all equipment everywhere in
any situation must be used per the manufacturer's specifications and
recommendations. If someone is hurt using a piece of equipment of any kind
anywhere that has been adjusted by someone other than the manufacturer, there is
a liability issue for the facility or company.
I heard at a recent OhioKepro seminar on
merrywalkers that a resident who is confused should not be placed in a
merrywalker per the manufacturer's recommendations and specifications.
This is the manufacturer's way of protecting their own butts!
