I have client that use a HUGE rubber stamp that the put on all correspondence Medicare Part A. I have other clients that have red envelopes that the put the transfer/consultation forms in to alert other providers to Part A.

The most successful though is a phone call the day of the appointment to the clinic or provider "are you aware this person is on Medicare Part A and subject to SNF consolidated billing?"

Some clients use all 3

Subject: Re: med A letter

In February 2003, the Fiscal Intermediary UGS referred to a special letter from CMS on this topic.  It stated:

"Per CMS instructions, SNFs must notify any outside provider if they are treating a SNF Part A beneficiary in order for that provider to correctly direct the charges back to the SNF for payment (unless the outside provider is providing an excluded service).

"The SNF must pay for any service provided to a Part A beneficiary by an outside supplier, unless that service is excluded from consolidated billing by statute."

Is anyone aware of/familiar with a letter for Med A patients to take with them to outpatient appts @ Physician offices, that informs them the patient is on a med A stay?  Thanks.
