I don't believe I would code it in section M as the manual seems to refer to cutaneous and subcutaneous tissue, whereas the lining inside the mouth is mucous membrane.  I believe I would capture it in section L.

The MDS itself gives "cancer lesion" as an example for M4c, so that's where I'd code it.

I have a resident with cancer lesion of the hard palate.  Do I count this in M4c?   It's there, but I don't know if it's an "open" lesion.
