The next OBRA assessment is due within 92 days of the R2b date of the previous OBRA assessment (quarterly, admission, annual , or significant change).  Medicare only assessments do not count in the OBRA scheduling unless combined with an OBRA assessment.

Subject: Do I restart the quarterly from last quarterly date, or from the 5 day medicare assessment?

Intermediate resident went out for emergency sx to correct a strangulated hernia, and he was d/c with return anticipated; he was skilled for IV meds when he returned, so we did a Medicare 5 day assessment. Then the IV meds were actually d/c on day 6 he does not seem to have any other changes that would make a sig change necessary, do we put him back on a quarterly schedule from the ARD of the 5 day, or back on his previous quarterly schedule (I'm pretty sure I don't do this). Thanks.
