I have a problem with my new productivity system that we are using at our facility and need some help and insight.
We are a 12 bed SNF unit attached to a ~120 bed hospital. Although we are considered a LTC, our patients are pretty sick, getting multi meds, pt/ot/st, blood transfusions, serious wound care, etc.
The hospital as a hole has begun to use a productivity system to compare us to national averages. The problem is that there is no national average for small hospital based SNF, so they used a sub-acute facility. I don't believe that this took into consideration the fact that SNF's have long term standards to meet, but due to our length of stay(~10 days), Joint commissions sees us as a short term/acute care, so we have to meet their standards as well.
I would like to know what other hospital based SNF's are doing to judge their productivity. How are you comparing your institution to national trends? What is your NCH's like?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Please mail me at my work address ( [EMAIL PROTECTED] ) . Thanks in advance.
