Hi everyone,
I have found conflicting information regarding counting restorative nursing orders.
In the Resident data reporting manual (revised 9/17/03), it states that orders for
restorative nursing should not be counted.
In December issue of PPS Alert page 10 the question was:
In our facility, we obtain physicians orders when we are going to
begin, discontinue, or change a restorative nursing program. Can I count these orders
in MDS item P8 if I receive the order during the MDS lookback period?
Answer: You can consider the orders you have described in your question as a new
treatment when you begin a restorative program, and as altered treatment when you
change a restorative program. Remember that when counting these orders, you must have
received them within the 14-day lookback period, which ends with the assessment
reference date of your MDS.
I would appreciate any feedback thanks!
