You will start over with a 5 day. You only do a readm/return if the
resident goes to the hospital while on medicare a and returns to your
facility.

Subject: Medicare Reentry - Rena and others

I have a resident who was no longer skilled 12/27. She is now eligible
again
for Medicare and I reinstated her as of Jan 15. She did not go out to
the
hospital. Do I do a Medicare 5 day OR do I do a Medicare Readmission.
Based
on the manual - it sounds like the readmission/reentry assessment is
only if
the resident was discharged to the hospital. Just want a little
clarification!
Thanks in advance
