This from the Wall Street Journal (as reported in the Baltimore Sun) today - Jan 21, 2004

A study being launched at Boston's Tufts-New England Medical Center will probe "just how debilitating bed rest is for muscles and bones -- and to see whether resistance training with springs and pulleys, along with special protein supplements, can reverse this downward slide," according to the Baltimore Sun. Participants aged 30-55 will spend 28 days in bed without even being allowed bathroom breaks, and they'll get $5,000 each for their trouble.
