I think it is fine to continue to monitor them for a FEW days to ensure that maintain gains, such as over the weekend w/ a Mon discharge..... esp if resident needs Home Health once he goes home.

Let the family be aware that it is fine to delay discharge and monitor for these few days. The resident rugs out to say a RVB2. Yes, a restorative program will be in use to continue to enforce what has been accomplished in prior therapy. Can we use medicare days this way? Can a regulation allow for this? Also there would not be any direct skilled nursing only indirect nursing. Then the resident either remains in the facility long term or discharges home. /---------------------------------------------------------- The Case Mix Discussion Group is a free service of the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators "Committed to the Assessment Professional" Be sure to visit the AANAC website.
