I always start over as well. By the way
the Briggs form is set up with the 5 day, 14 day, 30, 60, and 90 day
assessments, it is impossible not to start over.

rena and others
Oh dear! I have always started over again
with another 5 and 14day medicare cert form whenever a resident has gone out to
the hospital and returned! What is correct? If I only have to do it
for each "benefit period" that would certainly be easier that
starting all over again with each admission. Which way should it be done?
Thanks,

Maybe I missed the answer to this string but it is a
good question
Do we start a new certification form (I use the Briggs form) for every
readmission from the hospital? I was told at a seminar years back that each
certification form (initial, day 14, 44 and 74) is for a benefit period. I
have just been adjusting due dates for day 44 and 74 if they are out to the
hospital in between. I have never had any complaint from my Fiscal
Intermediary.
Any suggestions from the experts?
Thanks in advance!
