Subject: pressure relieving devices
I apologize if I already missed this
discussion.
I am in a quandry and we are expecting State any
second and want to be prepared to defend my MDS if need be.
I am having trouble with section M5a and b about
pressure
relieving device for w/c and bed.
The manual mentions "gel, air [e.g.Roho] or
other cushioning on chair or wheelchair". "Other
cushioning"
leaves room for confusion.
On bed it states "air fluidized, low
airloss therapy beds, flotation, water, or bubble mattress or pad".
My confusion is this: "other cushioning" on
w/c can be
relieving whereas bed must be one of the
mentioned types?
Does anyone know about GEOMATT or
PRIZM mattresses?
I am having trouble getting literature from the
sales rep.
My skin nurse states these two are only
pressure reduction.
Should I include them on the MDS? What do
you all do?
Thanks in advance
