A resident who is discharged to an Assisted Living
Facility, whether in the same building or any other, should be discharged with
return NOT anticipated.
Since she is returning to your SNF unit now, it
would be a new admission. A new admission assessment would be done and new
OBRA schedule established.
Page 2-24 of the manual states "A discharge with
return not anticipated can be a formal discharge to home, another facility, or
when the resident dies. If the resident is formally discharged from the
facility and returns at a later date, this will be a new admission and requires
a new Date of Entry (AB1)."
