I asked our medical director & one of our consulting Psych nurses for the main  psychiatrist we use and they were both in aggreeance that if a patient has any psychosis documented or diagnosed including dementia with psychotic features then it would be okay to use the 298.9 ICD 9 code.  I have not had any difficulties getting the other md's to aggree with this either.
Hope this helps. Jen in Missouri.

Does anyone know the ICD-9 code for this?
Will this diagnosis combines remove the QI from triggering or must it be unspecified psychosis 298.9 by itself?
