May I make a suggestion?
I think what you are asking is "How do I compare a PPS
MPAF form to an OBRA to see if the patient had significant changes?"
Essentially, the MPAF form quickly captures the
information needed to assess RUG grouping for payment purposes, but it still has
the "nitty-gritty". Look at the CHANGES in the Cognition, Communication,
ADL's, Continence, and Range of Motion sections. Look at the number of
services provided, such as nebulizer meds, postural drainage, psychological
therapy, restorative nursing. Then ask yourself: "is this the same
patient we were treating when the MPAF was performed?" Another way to look
at it is what the surveyors will use to cite you: "Do my care plans written for
the MPAF still provide for the patient's care now?"
If you answer, "Yes" to either question, there's no sig
change. If you answer "No" to either question, you do a sig.
change.
