Reminds me of an actual resident that I once had. She was legally blind
due to catracts and macular gegeneration. However, she would play multiple bingo
cards ACURATELY.
Hi everyone, just thought I share this...A
patient in Long Term Care is blind in one eye and has glaucoma in the other
eye, yet I coded her a zero on the MDS. The State Surveyor ask me to
explain how this patient can be a "0" on the MDS. We went to the room
and I have a eye exam sheet I made on the computer with funny sayings in
different fonts, and it took the patient like 5 minutes to read the 10 font
but she did it! I told the surveyor all the MDS asks if the patient can
"see find print". Well here is a classic example of being blind in one
eye and can't see out of the other yet pass the MDS vision exam! Have a
good day!
