She will continue the present benefit period she is in.  When she goes for the g-tube, she will pick up with what medicare days she has left.

Subject: skill for dehydration/GT

 

Resident is readmitted to unit after hospitaliztion for dehydration.  She had been covered for 5day observation upon readmission.  Now, several days later, her family is considering GT placement.  If she has a 3day hospital stay and a new GT placed is she eligible for medicare A?  Or does she have to have 60days at a nonskilled level?
