That is right. The word "injury" has been deleted from the definition of ulcer in the August update. So, if injury is the cause of the abrasion or skin tear and it has developed a scab, it would NOT be coded in section M1. Only scabs on open lesions/ulcers that meet the definition of ulcer would be coded in M1.

I need clarification on Section M...I know we have been over it before but the brain is just refusing to cooperate with me today.
Abrasions and scabs are not coded as a Stage II in M1b if they are due to an injury....is that right?
