If she was not gone for 24 hours you do not have to start her all over. She
would continue with her same PPS schedule when she came back. You only have
to start them over if they are gone for more than 24 hours. You would add
another MCR day onto her days. ex: if she came into your facility with 100
days and lets say her 100th day was going to be 5/29/04, if during her stay
she was gone to the ER over midnight but not more than 24 hours you wouldn't
be able to bill for the day she was gone at midnight so you would extend her
100th day to 5/30/04 but you wouldn't have to start her over again. If she
was gone for more than 24 hours then you would start her over again.
In our state they want us to do discharge tracking forms anytime a Resident
is gone from our facility at midnight for any medical reason.
