Hi Shelly,
We are
converting to a paperless chart. So far we have bought the software from a firm
called ECS. We tried to convert last year but it was very difficult and we were
running Accumax and ECS at the same time. It was a disaster and the
computers kept crashing. The conversion has been put on hold for now, because
the ECS system needs to be customized to our building. To tell you the truth,
our administration did not do their homework and I feel they bought a poor
product. The MDS and Rap and CP portion of the program is much more difficult
than Accumax. Anyway there is another facility in our area using ECS and they
HATE ECS. Is anyone else out there using it? Before you convert, make sure
you have a very strong IT person, and a nursing administration who is
knowledgeable about computers, programs etc. We
don't!!!!!!!!

Our facility is interested in conversion to a "paperless" charting system. We are a 292 bed skilled facility with affiliation with acute facility and several clinics. We are searching for information from other facilities who currently are using electronic charting. To start with we are looking for basic information regarding how well the systems work, does the MDS side communicate with the billing side, and how much information needs to be "hardcopy". Any information would be helpful.
