We have always let people go visit with family etc, as long as they are in bed by 12am
and do not miss therapy...This past winter we had a Medicare A resident who spent the
night out at his family's. After much research, we found out that with a MD order for
a therepeutic leave overnight, it was okay. We just did not bill for that day. We did
not start over with a new schedule. We were told this was acceptable by our medicare
consultant.....Does this help? I don't have a website.

Hi,

I've always thought if a resident was on Medicare A he/she couldn't go home for the
day or even out for the afternoon with family members. Now I'm hearing he/she can as
long as they are back by midnight. Has something changed and I missed it? Does any
one have a web site I can access with the information? Thanks muchly! :)
