The orthodics company if billing to Medicare would be using the date of
delivery to the patient. SO LOGICALLY would not the same rules apply. You do
not bill until after the service has been delivered for any Medicare
services!

Subject: Consolidated Billing - Unusual Situation

A facility ordered a special brace for a resident as ordered by the
physician. After being ordered, the resident was transferred to another SNF
before the brace was delivered. The orthotics company is now ready to
deliver the brace. We checked the HCPC code and it is not an excluded brace
so the $ 3,000.00 charge is the responsibility of the SNF? Question is
which SNF? The ordering SNF or the receiving SNF?

When CB first started I thought something came out that said it is the
responsibility of the SNF where the product is delivered.

Any input from anyone and a source would be helpful.

Thanks
Ron
