a facility's practice to turn & reposition residents on a regular basis is not considered a program. a program must meet ALL of the following criteria
have measurable objectives (specific to the resident)
evidence of periodic eval by a licensed nurse in the clinical record (good idea to correlate with MDS time frames)
CNAs must be trained in the techniques (in-service records as well as return demonstrations)
activities carried out or supervised by nursing staff
ROM; scheduled toileting & turning &positioning fall in this definition see section P# page 3-192 RAI manual

Subject: turning/repositioning program

Hello to all

Can you please specify for me in what is turning/repositioning program is?

If we turn and reposition our patients 2, 3 times per shift does it mean we have a repositioning program or we should do something else?

Thanks a lot.

Lana
