We have a resident admitted to the facility for rehab services for reconditioning (following 3 day stay)s/p pneumonia, exacerbation of COPD and cancerous tumors on the face and neck. He also has a peg tube which was inserted over a year ago. PT and OT are going to drop him soon, speech may carry him a little longer. Can we continue to cover his stay using the peg tube feeding as the skillable service? I know there will be other issues with the cancer that may make him skilled but we are wondering about the peg tube itself. I thought we couldn"t use the peg since it was not the reason he was hospitalized but I can't find my reference.
Thanks, Regina
