If you will be covering her from admission. There is no reason to do a
demand bill. Just treat her as Medicare from admission and do your 5
day, 14 day, etc. You will need the qualifying hospital stay from the
other facility. Billing will use that as the hospital days and show the
previous SNF stay on their bill.

Yesterday, a resident was admitted from hospital emergency room. Prior
to
admission she was living at home with home health care services. No
hospital
stay. I gave her a denial notice for non coverage for medicare upon
admission. Her daughter then told us that she thought her mother was in
a 30
day window from a stay at another SNF in February. I call the other
facility
to verify information. No return call back. The daughter is requesting
a
demand bill. I call the other facility again this morning. They
returned my
call and informed me that she was covered under a medicare part A stay
1/27-2/26/04. Discharged to home on 2/27/04. I know that I can go back
and
cover her from admission date. My question is; do I also sent her
request
for a demand bill to FI ?
Thanks in advance for the replies.
