No, you do not get default from late
signatures. The default rate is used whenever an ARD is set outside of the
assessment windows or an assessment has been missed. Page 2-40 states "If
a late/missed assessment has an ARD within the allowable grace period, no
financial penalty is assessed."

If the admission is with the 14 day PPS. If the
A3a date is set within the proper timeframes but due to what ever reason the
R2b date is past the 14 day would you receive default payment?

Default rate only applies if the A3a date of the assessment is later
than the last possible grace day for that assessment type. Is
your PPS assessment the 5-day or the 14-day? If Admission/5-Day
combination, then A3a must be no later than day 8 of Medicare stay and
then R2b can be on or after that date. If combining admission/14-day
then R2b must be within 14 days of admission to meet OBRA requirements and
A3a can be any day on or before that R2b date but no later than that
date.
I remember this being discussed but I cannot find it in any of my
saved stuff. Would you get the default rate on admission/PPS if the
R2b date is past the 14th day? Thanks.
