You can do an annual assessment for every quarter if you wanted - early assessments are always allowed (for OBRA - not Medicare).

How much earlier can I move up assessments, early as 20 days. Can I do an annual instead of a 3rd qtr? Thanks Claudia Farrell, RN

You can always do assessments early. I have my schedule on a 13 week rotation, with care plan meetings every Thursday. I print them out 3 months at a time, and then write in changes, admissions, etc. as needed. When it's time to do the next 3 month schedule, I look at weeks with a whole lot of full assessments, and move these up a week or 2 in order to even out the load. I also try to group my units together, because we have one unit that's in a satellite building up the road, and it's easier if I only have to go there every other week for care plans. (Although I still visit the unit a few times a week to check on my medicare residents) > >HS > >Holly F. I had to do in the month of sept last year around 11 significant changes. Unfortunately, their 3rd qtr assessments are all due in the time period-May, and all their annuals will be done in sept of this year. I am the only MDS cord for 122 beds, fortunately for me the census is down to est 68, but all of you are aware the mass's could all come in one day, (I know the administrator of course would like to >the census). Anyway, the most I ever move up an assessment might be 14days, the state prefers 8-10 days prior. Can I do an annual instead of a 3rd qtr? How can I can all of these cluster assessments? Recommendations/suggestions please.
