We changed the formqt for our monthly summaries. Our program allows us to rpint out the goal statements from the care plans and the monthly summary consists of documenting how well the resident is nearing the goals.

Subject: monthly summaries time is over
Date: Wed, 31 Mar 2004 22:29:16 EST

hello everyone,
last few years we've been discussing getting rid of the burden
of monthly summaries. nobody has followed thru yet but i really can't see
continuing the practice. they usually don't coincide with the look back period and
they can screw up flow of documentation when done by agency or unfamiliar
nurses on the floor. does anyone out there know if we're obligated in the state of
PA. can we d/c this practice all together if we chose to do so. Any replies
appreciated.
