I have worked in several nursing homes & all had different procedures. One of them replaced them every year & PRN & the nurses both RN & LPN could replace them. One of them replaced them every 6 months & PRN but they required the resident to go to the hospital & have the tube replaced & one of them replaced them every 1-2 years & PRN & they required the resident to go to the hospital to have them replaced.
