The way that I look at it is , when staff is feeding the resident it is total dependence. Since the resident fed himself/herself part of the meal, it cannot be coded as total. So if the resident required staff assistance with feeding at least 3 times in the 7 day assessment window, it would be coded as extensive assistance.

Could someone please clarify why (for example) Eating should be charted as extensive assist of one person (or 3/2) if a resident is able to feed themselves part of a meal but needed assist to finish the meal??? The part which I have difficulty understanding is that 3/2 means weight bearing assist of one person, and feeding a person does not require bearing weight!!?? I checked the manual out and it does not explain. Thank you for your input.
