If the resident is no longer be covered under Med A, there is no reason to continue on with the PPS schedule.  It does not matter that the resident remains in a SNF bed.

Subject: SNF IN A NF BED

Rena, Jan, or Ron...could you please answer this question.
This is a scenario that was presented to me but would like some feedback from others.  A resident is skilled and a 5-day and 14-day MDS were done.  Rehab discontinued and the resident is no longer qualified for skilled care for nursing so she is now considered NF in a SNF bed.  The resident is awaiting placement in another facility since they only do skilled care but are continuing to do the 30-day MDS, etc.  I tried to explain that this shouldn't be done...you don't do PPS assessments if the resident is no longer skilled.  Could you please verify this for me?  Thanks.
