Tanya, Voluntary does not mean willfull. If you view the Rt pick up a spoon,
for instance, that is voluntary. They may be able to perform a movement but
not process the information you are giving. Not voluntary means more like
the muscle/ nerves don't work.

I have read and re-read the manual on this question posed to me by one of
the nurses and I still dont have  a clear understanding to explain it to
her.
How do we document voluntary movement if the resident will not follow
directions and you are doing passive ROM?  My answer would be observation of
the resident performing ADLs at other times.  help!
