Specifically-I have had problems finding effective policy for a nursing home on C.Diff. What our medical director has helped with, is what to do, which is first, once identified, stop the antibiotic in use, (if any), we then use contact isolation if the resident is incontinent and only use the disposible pads, briefs and wipes if this is being used. All linen are bagged seperately in red bags and we do not have restrictions on meal trays and such, unless we had an a concern. Also for any acute diarrhea, we look back 30 days (if in house) for possible antibiotic use and culture for c. diff, is they were on one. Most cases we see are from a hospital, and use of Cipro or Levaquen is the drug seen in use or used prior to admit or re-admit. |
