I can
TOTALLY understand your actions to try and maintain the integrity of what this
list is for, but, as a SW/Nurse, I always tend to be a little bit more giving to
people. Perhaps, she did not fully understand what the issue was, as
indicated by other posters. I also went to the site and downloaded one of
the free forms. I had no intention of buying, and I believe that any other
of us nurses who also went there would not have been swayed to the commerical
aspect of the site. I feel the lister, Marti, was kind of ,"hey guys
here's something free you might want to try", not "hey guys, I am
promoting this product". I also feel , that if it was enough to get
her removed, maybe a live phone conversation could have happened before the
removeal. I do believe the power of the spoken word has more
emphasis. I also feel that after 1 repeat infraction, the result was a too
harsh sentance. Could you retract the removeal and give her limited
posting rights ?

Subject: [spam] RE: Read this!!!My apologies to those of you that disagree with my having removed Marti from the listserve. I tried to keep this issue offline but it looks like that isn't going to be possible. On May 5th Marti posted a message with a link to a software vendors website announcing free nursing forms. I visited the website and read that the free downloads were limited "lite" versions of their commercial programs. I then sent Marti a private message explaining to her that we do not allow subscribers to promote software vendors on the listserve and asked her not to post any additional messages of this kind. On 5/6 Marti posted another message apologizing for the first post explaining that she didn't realize it was a software vendor and that it would not happen again. At 11:16am today Marti posted a message explaining that she'd spoken with the company and that they corrected some problems with their website. The message then encouraged everyone to visit the website again. Thats when I notified her that she's been removed from the listserve. She had been warned privately and ignored the warning. To clarify, the policy is that cmdg does not allow messages criticizing or promoting software vendors, commercial products or services. If anyone has a form/document/policy etc. they'd like to share, please feel free to post it to this forum. Sharing information and tools is very different than promoting software. Offering "free" forms or downloads is a common sales tool to get customers to visit a vendors website. If we were to allow this kind of promotion, to be fair to all the other vendors, we'd have to allow them to post announcements promoting their "free" downloads as well. With hundreds of long term care vendors, this listserve could be over-run with advertising and that wouldn't be in the best interest of this group. Also, Marti wasn't "just kicked off" the list. When subscribers post inappropriate messages, I often contact them privately as I did in this case. She ignored the warning and did exactly what she was asked not to do. In the several years I've moderated this listserve, I've only "kicked off" 3 people. No one should worry about getting removed for posting inappropriate messages. The only subscribers who have been removed are those who received warnings and chose to ignore them.To answer another post, no I am not the owner. I am under contract with AANAC to moderate this listserve. I also developed and maintain AANAC's website. I do occasionally make mistakes and am more than happy to discuss this privately with anyone who has questions and/or opinions on the matter. I can be reached 24/7 via email, toll free at 800-834-7430, or AOL Instant Messenger screen name gjorg0 (that's a zero on the end).Sorry to kick up such a controversy. I'm just grateful that I'm not Donald Rumsfeld.Have a great weekend,-GaryGary Jorgenson, RN President - Robin Technologies, Inc.

Subject: Re: Read this!!!Okay...I am confused. We send forms back and forth to each other all of the time, so why is it not alright for MartiAnn to do the same? I have used a lot of the information she has sent out over this list-serve, and I will miss her input. Shame, Shame, Shame!!!KathyD

We have become friends in a few days. What a doll. Now I hear she is off the list because she did something nice for us as nurses by sending us free nursing forms. Not even software as she stated in one of her notes ..Give me a break.Someone who is thoughtful and kind. Please. What is this world coming to.I have seen people here talk of stupid stuff .I hope you kick them off too.Since people are allowed to vent here as Holly told me this weekend, I am now too. Thanks for listening.ML
