Thank you for the response - when I was at the AANAC conference in Atlantic City I was told that they had been added to M2b from a speaker in a session I had attended.  She was going to email me the information but I never received it.  I just wanted to make sure something had not changed.----- Original Message -----

Arterial ulcers are not included in M2b.  See the "coding" instructions on page 3-162 of the RAI User's Manual.  Also, see the 2nd example on page 3-164.

I have been trying to get a question out for three days.  iIdo not have any trouble receving any other email - I just can't initiate a email.  Can you help?

I just wanted to know if arterial ulcers are clasified in M2 as stasis ulcers or is this strictly for venous stasis ulcers?  Thanks.

Lisa,
Yes, why does this trigger or why is this a particular problem for this resident and frequently you will find yourself interjecting the medical diagnosis. I guess that each surveyor has specific points that they are looking for and what pleases one may not please another. Overall, I try to be very detailed in my rap summary --sometimes hard to do if pressed for time.  Mary

Lisa,

I once had a surveyor to say "why" in the rap summary and not "what" since the mds tells the what. So I look at every trigger and try to identify why.

Why what?
Did they want to know why it was triggered?
Thanks
