We don’t have a policy per se but we do allow them in our facility.  We put it on the tx MAR to check q shift for correct water amt present in the humidifier and to fill it prn accordingly.  Then we clean it every week.  We have the family supply the cleaning solution and a new filter to be changed as directed.

Subject: humidifiers

Does anyone have a policy for residents not having humidifiers in their rooms? We have checked the humidity in the facility and is at the correct percentage. We have some residents who still want a humidifier in their room but due to infection control we are trying to get rid of them.

Thanks in advance

Kim
