one last potential "gotcha": the binary download of openmcl 1.0 has a 
bug in its threads support -- if you plan to run rts in openmcl 1.0 
then you will have to build openmcl 1.0 from its cvs sources. openmcl 
0.14.3 should work fine.

I would like to get this running with all the bells and whistles...  
so please advise.
