Yes, setting "MUS_JACK_AUTOCONNECT=no/yes/specific_portnames" looks very nice.

Yeah, it happen in mus_audio_initialize. However, it could happen the first time mus_audio_open_output or mus_audio_open_input is called
instead, I guess.
(sndlib's current notion of scanning the hardware at initialization to see what's available may not make sense in ALSA/JACK -- ALSA basically lies saying "yes, we got tomatoes", and the latest version segfaults if you ask for anything specific about the "default" capture device -- gad, this thing is a pain.)
