Probably yes. I can reproduce the problem after the change of alsa
settings for pipewire:
# snd 21.5, alsa-lib-1.2.5.1
./configure --without-gui
# no pipewire
./snd
loading libc_s7.so

New settings in ~/.asoundrc for pipewire (compiled from git 20210703):
pcm.pipewire { type pipewire }
ctl.pipewire { type pipewire }
pcm.!default pcm.pipewire
ctl.!default pcm.pipewire
# The repl hangs with or without pipewire daemon; the new alsa
# settings seem the problem.
./snd
loading libc_s7.so
Ctrl-c
