Here is Susan's latest entry on her Caringbridge site. Visit her Caringbridge site and offer her congratulations. http://www2.caringbridge.org/europe/susandale/index.htm Saturday, August 28, 2004 2:57 PM CDT Hello everyone Two relatively short visits to the hospital mainly to keep an eye on this virus (it seems like it often comes back to bother the transplanted one and the meds should keep it under control) and to check on the gvh rash which seems to have become quite inactive and so my cortizone is put down a bit. Yeah. My face is still very puffy but not so red and I'm learning to cook and eat salt free. Very good news officially though. The cytogenetic results of the marrow draw from one month ago shows no detectable phillies in my marrow. My first clean marrow since diagnosis. Officially. Of course by pcr it is still detectable but this is progress. And who know what last week's draw has to show? And the chimerism results too. We wait. Yesterday was a busy day with me leaving the house twice (that means getting up my 3 flights of stairs twice in a day, no small effort for me) and now I have a small blood pressure cuff that I can use to monitor my own bp. At the hospital, they not only have difficulty finding veins, they now have some effort to get a clear bp reading. Hmmmmm. I still need a little help getting around (usually just an arm to steady me) in the morning, but I'm getting a little better in the afternoons, steadier and more accurate direction wise on my feet. I get very tired very fast and need to know places I can sit down at regular intervals and I still don't feel I could hit the street unaccompanied yet. But that will come. And dear friends like Pete and Georgia are helping me to get out and do things. A quite day resting after yesterday's busy one and also dealing with aches and pains that don't have too much to do directly with the transplant including a wisdom tooth that has decided to manifest it's existance as it does every 6 months or so. Just when you think you're gonna get a little rest. My next appointment is on Tuesday. They've let me off a IV bottle twice now in an effort to 'save my veins' which I much appreciate. Will I be so lucky again? my love to all of you Susan ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Make a clean sweep of pop-up ads. Yahoo! Companion Toolbar.
