Hi Kristin,
I don't know the answer to your questions. Sorry. I'm not sure where they did my tests, but I seem to remember the dr. who did my biopsy being the same one who wrote up the report. He is a local pathologist. I will be having the pcr test done next month at UCLA. I do know that Dr. Sawyers says to do the stem cell harvest if you are at 0 with the biopsy, fish and pcr. Not sure if he looks at where the test is done.
Thanks for the congrats,
Mary

Congratulations, Mary! I'm also zero at UCLA, but not at MDACC. I
think that UCLA, who does not use Specialty Labs, but conducts their
PCRs in house, uses a different housekeeping gene (G6PDH) than
MDACC, which I believe uses total ABL. I believe that total ABL is
what Dr. H. in Manheim, Germany uses in his ultra-sensitive machine.
This may be why I test positive at MDACC, increasingly so at small
quantities, but negative at UCLA.
If someone else has any input on this issue, I'd love to hear it.
Also, I'm wondering about the data in the BMS trials. If 40+ centers
are to be involved, as I'm told, how will they be able to compare
the PCR data, since the various centers use different housekeeping
genes. From my layman's perspective, it would seem that the data is
not comparable.
Just wondering,
Kristin
