Hello Group, this is Lynne A.  I wanted to write and say that thanks to the nudging of Rob to get CMLers in cities and towns together to meet, I found a couple of women in my area who are willing to meet this fall! I am so glad.....AND, on Sept. 26th in Worcester, Mass. at Assumption College there is a Light the Night Walk at 4:30 pm if anyone is interested in participating. I am working the information booth (God willing) and then walking.  An update:  I am trying to get off the pain medication so that I can work, have a job.  I don't know if I can or not. I am trying.  Lately I am feeling worse,(bone pain-wise) and don't know what is up with that. Counts were fine two weeks ago though.  But, am trying to hang in there with the Gleevec therapy.  I know some people stopped taking Gleevec due to this side-effect and I am trying very hard not to give up. I also would like to share excerpts from a poem the Patient Advocate Society sent to me with some printed material on job retention and cancer. ( It is strange, just before dx I lost a baby that I had named Hope.  How uncanny is this?) Well, thought someone else might take comfort from these words, the author is Henry R. Nice, Jr.   HOPE ...."Once I wished for a cure Oh how I prayed My sould did pour I cursed the day and wondered why Of all the lives on this land Why did fate drop its hand Upon my shoulder Life me up and ravage me? How I wonder where they went All my dreams.... In a moment spent. I prayed O-Lord that I might Retain my strength Continue to fight. I long for the wish, the dream, the cure. But most of all I do pray, Please dear Lord, don't take away The greatest tool I can see... HOPE is the greatest tool for me. ...."The day we lose the will to hope, Is the day we find we cannot cope. Life will no longer continue to hold, and Heaven's gate will unfold. The silver bonds will slip away And our Lord will call us home to stay. I'll walk the path, A many a mile, Carry the load. And try to SMILE For I will beat this demon, I will survive, As long as I have the will to hope, I have the tools to set me free. Hear me Lord this I plea Give me my way, my way to cope.
